Danville Historic Square

Constitution Square is a public open-air museum and lovely park located in downtown Danville, Kentucky. On your guided tour you will learn about the early settlement of Kentucky, including how Dr. McDowell’s father and father-in-law were instrumental in the history of the area. Visit reconstructions of historic buildings such as a jail and the courthouse where Kentucky’s statehood was debated.

Afterward, take a tour of McDowell House (admission required) or further explore the nooks and crannies of the park including monuments, plaques, historic architecture, and an herb garden. Constitution Square is also a lovely place to have a casual picnic lunch. Two bakeries, a coffee shop, and a pharmacy are within a block or two of the park.
